Job Description The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the specific business unit in question The role requires an experienced benefit professional to the lead the employee benefits portfolio for Old Mutual in South Africa. The portfolio covers all benefit funds (retirement, risk cover and medical aid, absence policies and other employee benefits). Benefits Strategy and Frameworks Develop an SA benefits framework aligned to the Group Reward and Benefits Strategy. The role will support benefits practice thought leadership, implementation and administration of benefit programs in South Africa.
Uses insight on the future workplace and employee archetypes and together with principles of behavioral economics to guide and support the benefits value proposition for South Africa. Ensure that Benefit programs in South Africa are regularly review and are economically feasible. Test and understand employee perceptions through research and studies to ensure that benefit programs are fit for purpose, value adding and sustainable. Governance and benefit management Ensure that benefit programs in South Africa are supported through well-defined policies, procedures and frameworks. Ensure that group minimum standards on benefit programs and agreed principle are implemented. Understanding of Pension Funds Act, Medical Schemes Act, employment legislation and other regulation and governance applicable to employee benefits. Ensures that the benefit risk environment is managed across all benefit offerings. Conducts relevant audits and monitors application of governance standard and policy. Works closely with benefit providers, fund principal officers and other stakeholders to execute on the benefits programs for SA. Ensures policies and procedures are drafted and that benefit programs are managed and administered in accordance with procedures. Collaborates with other functional competencies (e.g. finance and risk, segments, HC COEs, Centre of Service, Talent and Performance Management) in delivering solutions. Co-ordinates key employee benefit projects for SA. Leads efficiencies and new ways of work to simplify complex processes that add value and ensure operating model supports the benefits practice appropriately including oversight of services provided by the Centre of Service and payroll. Manages providers and vendors under the portfolios and ensure efficiency in delivery. Advisory and Consulting Support Collaborates and effectively partners with HC teams across the business provide practice advice and assist in solving business challenges. Focuses on education, strong communication and creating understanding of practice areas for all stakeholder groups (internal and external) including communities of practice. Responsible for ensuring a strong partnership and empowerment of segment reward and HC to execute on practice. Build toolkits for HC to localize and adapt for internal use. Build communication and engagement tools for employees and prospective employees to understand and experience the SA employee benefit proposition. Systems, tools and analytics Generates insights from Reward Analytics to inform policy and implementation decisions, measure ROI and effectiveness of benefit programs. Provide the necessary tools, reporting and analytics in partnership with People Data Analytics or within practice. Recommends benefits programs by studying employee requirements and trends and developments in benefits offered by other organizations Responsible for Workday Benefits and Absence modules and successful implementation Is responsible for specific Benefits practices including, but not limited to: Thought leadership, implementation and administration of benefit programs for South Africa Regularly review and audit of benefit programs to mitigate risk Ownership of policies and procedures that are relevant and up to date for all benefit programs in South Africa. Management the execution and administration of benefits programs through vendors, Centre of Service, and other benefit providers. Drive efficiency and value add in the employee benefit proposition for South Africa. Work closely and partner with benefit providers, fund principal officers and committees to represent OML interests. Collaborate with HC and Segment to solve for business challenges, including key change projects. Qualification and experience: B.Comm or financial qualification, Benefits Consulting or SA Corporate employee benefits experience Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) is advantageous SARA Accreditation as a Chartered Reward Specialist Experienced benefits manager with at least 3-5 years’ benefit management experience with demonstrated knowledge of benefit design, management of SA benefit funds and benefit risk and legislation Technical Competencies Demonstrated understanding of local and international best practices. Demonstrated competence in project management. Demonstrated business acumen, and strong financial reporting understand and background Highly numerate. Understanding of regulatory requirements & legislation (e.g. BCEA, Labour Relations Act, Tax Act, King Code, Companies Act, applicable local legislation) Demonstrated experience in benefit modelling, forecasting and risk management. Demonstrated experience in the design and development of strategy, frameworks and policies.
