Your ‘day to day’ The Market Research function creates economic advantage for Philip Morris International by enabling decision makers to act on a consistent and insightful understanding of consumers. As PMI amplifies its transformation to a consumer-centric organization, the Market Research function is becoming strategically important and we’re currently looking for an experienced and talented data analytics and insights professional to join the team in South Africa. The Market Research Lead will actively contribute to the development of PMI brands from a consumer standpoint. The role will be responsible to generate and contextualize consumer and market insights and translate those into actionable business strategies and relevant innovation for PMI consumers. The successful candidate will lead the design, implementation and analysis of market, consumer and brand data gathering, analysis and reporting in the Southern African and IOI markets with a significant influence on setting strategic direction for commercial programmes. They will be responsible for defining business information needs and implement leading edge marketing research practice to deliver actionable, cost effective insight and create sustainable competitive advantage, whilst proactively driving the utilisation of market intelligence and in-house as well as external data to affect the attainment of business objectives & support consumer centric & innovation focused orientation. Principle Accountabilities includes:-Design and implement research studies to help the markets achieve the business objectives; lead the analysis and interpretation of results; present key findings and recommendations to regional management team-Specifically, drive the market research process through optimising research briefs, supplier choice, methodologies and analyses to ensure that PMSA only receives work of the highest quality from leading edge agencies in a cost effective manner-Drive data extraction, analysis and synthesis that focuses on strategic priorities-Conduct real time market level analyses to generate consumer insights for Commercial, Consumer Journey and Channel teams using consumer feedback via internal systems. This will be used to create root cause analyses to build hypotheses that feed in to actions / further research /FFWD projects.-Keep abreast of the latest innovations in research and analytics to ensure the most relevant and advanced methodologies are used to facilitate the collection of actionable consumer and brand knowledge-Assist HOF in the development and execution of an annual Marketing Research Plan that is focused on key business objectives; optimising relevance and impact of market information across the business -Together with HOF, define and prioritise short & medium term information needs with commercial management -Drive the identification of information gaps & insufficiently utilised information-Develop, maintain and prioritise the research plan-Manage the Market Research budget in line with evolving business priorities & identifying savings opportunities-Actively engage the head office and the regions through provision of data and research results to assist in sound business decisions and to foster understanding of how research can benefit the business-Effectively collaborating, sharing and transferring knowledge, skills and experiences to other affiliates and to PMI Senior Management through working closely on cross functional research programs to inform SAF and international information requirements-Coach and guide internal customers on understanding and utilisation of Market Research outputs-Proactive analysis and presentation of actionable, strategically focused, evidence based recommendations-Drive the monitoring and evaluation of business activities Who we’re looking for:-Tertiary Qualifications in Marketing, business, mathematics, statistics and advanced analytics. Experience with behavioral economics or economics are also advantageous. -Post graduate qualifications in the above are highly regarded.-Minimum 7 years in a consumer insights, analytics role or similar environment. Agency as well as client side experience would be preferred. -Demonstrated experience conceptualizing analytics/research based solutions to business problems.-Demonstrated experience making actionable strategic recommendations from large data sets.-A high level of comfort with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and similar software is necessary. Experience working with SQL and data visualization (e.g. Power BI, Stratifyd, Tableau) is preferable. Experience with text analytics, coding (Python/R), process mining, b2c customer oriented metrics is a plus-Attention to detail is expected for example, to spot data errors and ensure reliable reporting to Management-Communication & influencing skills will help to deliver against objectives in a dynamic matrix organization-Storytelling (balancing between insights and actionability in a compelling, clear and impactful way) and manifested managerial talent is a strong plus-Passion for understanding what adult consumers think and feel throughout the Consumer Journey and ability to build the empathy is a must-Lean & Agile mind-set - comfortable with FFWD and Test2Learn principles-Comfortable with travelling locally as well as globally, as required What we offer Our success depends on the all people who come to work every single day with a sense of purpose and an appetite for progress.
