Business Development Manager (Membership Manager)

Our client, a well-established non-profit organization supporting businesses across the Western Cape, is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to grow their membership base. This organization fosters business success and economic growth by connecting businesses and providing key services across industries.
The Business Development Manager will engage with leaders from various sectors, including corporates, SMEs, and disadvantaged communities, to convert incoming leads into active members. The role involves tailoring solutions to meet the unique needs of prospective members, with an emphasis on complex sales rather than traditional product-pushing.
This hybrid role involves attending approximately three events weekly and working from the office on Mondays for meetings.
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing complex sales cycles, particularly in a B2B environment. They should demonstrate expertise in listening to client needs and tailoring solutions accordingly, engaging effectively with high-level stakeholders. Experience in business development leadership, strategic partnerships, and a track record of driving growth are key.
Remuneration Package: Negotiable basic + commission
Minimum Requirements:
- - 10+ years of sales experience, preferably in selling business services.
- Proven ability to engage and communicate effectively with Csuite leaders and senior executives.
- Strong business development and problemsolving skills, with a focus on tailored client solutions.
- Experience in managing sales channels, strategic partnerships, and revenue growth initiatives.
- An MBA would be beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and sales software.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- - Develop strategies to increase membership across corporate, small business, and other sectors.
- Engage with Csuite executives and senior decision-makers to understand their business needs and offer tailored solutions.
- Attend networking events to represent the organization and build relationships with prospective members.
- Oversee sales processes, including customer relationship management (CRM), to enhance efficiency and member engagement.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive membership growth and strengthen market presence.
