Collaborate closely with Solution Sales to identify priority sectors and key client needs, translating them into impactful and value-driven solutions across solution/ product domains. ​

Support the customer engagement, look at design, development, and implementation of these solutions, ensuring they align with strategic business goals while delivering high-value outcomes.​

Act as a L2/ L3 support working with the operations team ​







Solution implementation and delivery ​

Provide direction and guidance to solution design teams and sales activities, facilitating seamless collaboration with implementation teams. Lead the development of innovative engineering strategies, enhancing network performance and reliability while driving the achievement of key business objectives.​

Manage and oversee engineering teams, maintain strong vendor partnerships, and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements. Deliver exceptional results through effective leadership and by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.​

Responsibilities

Strategy Development and Implementation​







Identify priority sector and client needs and translate these into compelling Business Line solutions and assets in solution/ product domain that drive compelling business value.​

Guide the delivery of expertise into Solution design, sales activities and implementation, working with implementation teams within Business Line.​

Develop and execute engineering strategies that align with MTN Converged Solutions overall objectives, driving innovation, and ensuring the highest levels of network performance and reliability. ​

Oversee and manage a team of engineers, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.​

Define and maintain the architecture and standards in line with MTN Group guidelines to guide the design and implementation of Business Line solutions within the UCC & SD-WAN, Cloud, IOT, Security.​







Collaborate closely with the Head of Business Line, Sales and Solutions operations to drive and manage RFP pipeline.​

Orchestrate service providers and develop back-to back SLAs between vendors and local teams for large / priority and pilot deals aligned to the customer SLA.​



People Leadership /Management​

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers providing coaching, guidance, and performance evaluations.​

Develop and maintain a high-performance team that consistently meets or exceeds targets.​

Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer-centricity within the team.​

Set integrated goals and objectives for the team in order to achieve a future-focused, future-fit high-performing organisation.​

Provide technical,





procedural and policy guidance to staff, colleagues, partners and vendors.​

Attract, develop and retain appropriate talent. Build talent by identifying and developing new leaders for the respective environment​

Develop and maintain a high-performance team that consistently meets or exceeds targets. ​

Set KPIs and provide regular performance feedback through a well-defined and implemented performance review program.​

Develop and implement a training plan to build and develop skills within the team.​

Enable and model healthy employee relations and collaborative teamwork.​

Manage diversity, develop, and embed an Employment Equity plan for the business area.​

Contribute to building a culture of continuous evaluation and improvement. Drive a culture of high performance,





accountability and consequence management​

Act as an ambassador for the team by living the values and vital behaviours and changing and influencing employees’ behaviour.​

Governance​

Strategic governance and interlock​

Develop and execute the governance framework and associated forums to govern the application of Business Line solution standards within the specialised product/ solution domain.​

Lead regular strategic meetings with key stakeholders to align on pre-sales activities, review solution performance, and identify new opportunities.​

Perform evaluation baseline of key performance indicators (KPIs).​

Request for relevant budget for internal projects and new initiatives. Monitor costs accordingly.​

Facilitate preparation of proposals on change initiatives,





policies and procedures.​

P&L; view and signing off on profitable deals. ​



Escalations​

Identify potential risks in solution delivery and develop mitigation strategies to prevent disruptions and ensure project success.​

Escalate issues that will result in severe time, scope, productivity, and cost or resource or reputational impact.​

Manage and provide solutions to escalations that have multiple processes/functions impact on critical path of service delivery.​

Manage and provide solutions through stakeholder consultation where relevant.​



Performance​

Implement processes for regular review and refinement of Business Line solution offerings based on performance data and customer feedback in line with MTN SA Strategy.​







Ensure alignment between and across other functions within MTN SA and the specialised product/ solution domain including but not limited to market representatives.​

Provide reports as required timeously regarding performance and outcomes of the unit.​



Operational Delivery​

Guidance and Support Delivery Management​

Guide team to apply innovation in developing Business Line solutions to client needs within MTN SA design standards.​

Build capability in product/ solution consultants to delivery in an agile, fast paced manner, driving MVP principles where required.​

Ensure that all solutions maintain architectural integrity throughout the implementation process, aligning with industry best practices and company standards.

Continuous Improvement​

Provide input into thought leadership (Product trends, industry best practice) within the Business Line strategy space​

Research and keep abreast of new innovations, identify and share leading practices, concepts and benchmarks on a continual basis​

Participate in communities of practices and conferences to facilitate knowledge sharing and positioning of MTN’s intellectual property and employer of choice brand towards the external marketplace​

Monitor true-value metrics to measure the impact and benefit of the function to MTN Group​





Qualifications

3-year degree equivalent / 4-year tertiary qualification (Technical/ Commercial) or related​

MBA / Masters Advantageous

Experience

At least 7 years related experience in architecture design and delivery, inclusive of;​

New Platform build ​

Customer solution implementation ​

Operation execution to meet customer SLAs​

Knowledge of B2B Technology architecture and technology innovations.​

Demonstrated ability to manage large technology programmes across the lifecycle.​

Vendor management ​

Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous.​

Experience working in a medium to large organisation​
