Introduction
Seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our Retail Organization located in Mobeni, Durban. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the financial records, ensuring accuracy, and providing essential support to the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Bookkeeper and knowledge of ARCH or Pastel is essential.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 08h00 - 16h30 and Saturdays from 08h00 - 13h00. However during quieter periods, only alternate Saturdays are required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties,
including maintain and update financial records, including data entry, bank reconciliations, ledgers and journals.
- Assist in the Preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Understanding of managing debtors and creditors.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with other team members and clients to provide financial insights and support.
- Maintain organized and secure financial filing systems.
- Handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.
- Monitoring daily communications and answering any queries
- Ensuring payments, amounts and records are correct.
- Working with spreadsheets, sales and purchase ledgers and journals.
- Recording and filing cash transactions.
- Controlling credit and chasing debt.
- Invoice processing and filing.
- Processing expense requests for approval.
- Bank reconciliation.
- Liaising with third party providers, clients and suppliers.
- Updating and maintaining procedural documentation
- Knowledge of journal entries (GL Accounts)
- Reconciliation of GL Accounts
- Preparation of Vat reconciliation and submission
- Maintaining and recording of fixed assets
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12
- A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in accounting, finance or a related field may be preferred
- 4 - 5 years of previous bookkeeping experience
- Working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to quickly learn and utilize industry-specific accounting packages
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask across different types of accounting-related projects
