The Registered Nurse will render and promote cost effective, safe quality patient care in accordance to hospital standards and policies.KNOWLEDGE & RESPONSIBILITIES Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities Contribute to the holistic care of patients Attend handover of report at shift commencement. Audit of health records to ensure compliance Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care, and encourage them to participate in therapeutic activities Monitor progress, advise and arrange support for patients, relatives and carers Promote and maintain good public relations with patients,
relatives and visitors Practice the principles of infection prevention and control. Carry out all departmental duties as assigned, and perform other duties as reasonably requested by the Unit Manager or senior member of staff.EDUCATION & WORKING EXPERIENCE Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional nurse and Psychiatric nurse Relevant qualification in Psychiatry B CUR/Diploma in Nursing (General, Community Health and Psychiatric) & Midwifery Prior experience in psychiatric nursing is essential (Minimum 2 years) Flexible in working hours/Shifts Computer Literacy, SAP will be an advantage Three or more years of experience in a private hospital preferred A good understanding of mental illness Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health.
