What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it)
In this role,
you'll be managing a variety of project and commercial contracts related to renewable energy, such as PPAs, EPCs, O&Ms;, and agreements for energy storage. You'll draft, review, and negotiate contracts, ensuring they are localized to align with South African law. In addition, you will provide legal and compliance advice to various departments and manage disputes when necessary. Your contribution will play a crucial role in identifying and mitigating legal, operational, and financial risks, ultimately supporting the success of renewable energy projects. Collaboration across departments and working closely with external legal counsel will also be key aspects of your role.
Where you'll be doing it
You will be working for an international Renewable Energy company with their small but dynamic SA team. This role can either be based at their Cape Town CBD or Sandton, Gauteng officed depending on where you are wanting to be based. Preference will be given to individuals living in those regions. After probation,
there are two days a week that are work from home days and flexible working hours. There's a young team that are down to earth and passionate about what they do, focused on taking the business to the next level in a growing company.
What you'll need
You'll need to be an Admitted Attorney with at least 1-3 years of post-admission experience, with a strong grasp of South African contract law. You must have exceptional negotiation, drafting, and communication skills, and a keen ability to manage disputes. Your strong organizational skills and attention to detail will be critical, along with your capacity to work independently and provide strategic legal advice to support business objectives.
We're looking for a down to earth person that's easy to get along with and is a great team player that is eager to work in a small entity that is in a growth and development phase. So, you'll not going to be walking in to an existing "perfect" structure, you will need to be agile.
