Rail Vehicle Systems division
In our Rail Vehicle Systems division we equip mass transit vehicles such as metro cars and light rail vehicles, as well as freight trains, locomotives, long-distance passenger trains and high-speed trains, with highly advanced products. Along with braking systems these include intelligent entrance systems, HVAC systems, auxiliary power supply systems,
control components and windscreen wiper systems, platform screen doors, friction material, driver assistance systems, electrical traction equipment and control technology.
Commercial Vehicle Systems division
The Commercial Vehicle Systems division offers its customers braking systems for trucks, buses, trailers and agricultural machinery. In the chassis systems sector, Knorr-Bremse is a leading player in electronic control, driver assistance and air supply systems. Other product fields include steering systems, powertrain-related systems and torsional vibration dampers for diesel engines.

Knorr-Bremse SA seeks to employ an experienced Machine Shop Manager.
Overall responsibility will be for the management of Machine Shop and resources to ensure that production plans are met to support the overall business objectives (sales order book).
KPA's:
- Planning and organising production schedules and plans to ensure optimum machine utilization
- Overseeing production process
- Determining quality control standards
- Liaison with buyers and sales staff
- Assessing project and resource requirements
- Estimating and negotiating time scales with internal clients and managers
- Re-negotiating time scales or schedules as necessary
- Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
- Supervising the work of junior staff
- Mentoring of apprentices and interns
- Controlling budgets and costs relating to tooling and machine maintenance
- Adhering to production and scrap rate targets
- Educate the staff on 5S and ensures that all staff members are training and Fleximatrix updated
- Ensure that monthly sales targets are met through production schedules.
- Management of Surface Treatment Plant
Skills required:
- 10 years plus production management experience and relevant qualifications
- Technical product knowledge
- Customer relationship and leadership skills
- Good understanding, reading and interpreting drawings
- Qualtiy Management Systems knowledge
Qualifications:
- Relevant trade certificate / Operations Management / Industrial Engineering
