Applications are invited for the position of EHS Specialist for PQ Silicas South Africa (Pty) Ltd. This position will be a fixed term contract, based in Wadeville.
JOB PURPOSE
To provide specialist EHS advice and support to all levels within the organisation in order to develop effective EHS management systems, to ensure legal compliance, to comply with PQ Group Standards, to reduce the risk of harm to people and to minimise associated business losses.
JOB KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To ensure Legal compliance of PQ Silicas operations in Johannesburg and Durban.
- To develop and implement a comprehensive EHS management plan for PQ Silicas.
- To ensure implementation of PQ Group standards.
- Provide technical EHS support for incident investigations and reporting
- Complete RCA for all near miss and LOC events.
- Develop and Deliver EHS related training for both sites.
- To lead management of change activities for both sites.
- Provide EHS support / contractor control for projects and shutdown activities
- Update & refine HIRA, Emergency Plans, SWPs, etc
- Assist with PQ 20P Implementation.
- Implement plan to achieve ISO14001 / 45001 over next 3 years.
- Define and carry out Operational and EHS Systems Audits
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Preference will be given to a suitably qualified EHS specialist with a BTech/Degree Safety / Risk Management.
- Additional IOSH recognised safety courses.
- Additional ISO 14001 / 45001 internal auditor training would be beneficial.
- Min 5 years experience in HSE support in Chemical factory environment.
- Must be proficient in Excel, Word, etc
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Good communication & IT skills
- Behavioural safety background
- A code 8 or higher driver's licence
- Travel to Durban site will be required.
