The purpose of the role:
To manage and oversee technical staff in repairing services on Earthmoving Equipment in the Workshop and in the Field.
Workshop Management
- Ensure the company's Safe Work, and ISO related Procedures are maintained
- Manage WIP days, compile and submit work-in-progress exception report, not to exceed 90 days.
- Facilitate and manage warranty programme, warranty jobs execution, warranty claims, service bulletin execution and close out, FIR submittance and warranty job close-outs with-in 30 days after last labour date.
- Manage workshop output and TQM, ensure quality is always maintained on jobs performed.
- Manage Field Service work scheduling and execution, ensure that quality is maintained, and TQM is implemented and maintained, ensure effective housekeeping in terms of the company fleet.
- Manage the preparation of new equipment and selling of services, parts, out-work, and assets.
- Manage the administration of pre-delivery inspection documentation and warranty registration.
- Ensure orders are accurately processed as per Sales Service Credit Schedule.
- Manage the daily and weekly housekeeping in the division.
- Monitor disputes and queries in terms of debtors.
- Arrange transport for equipment going out or coming into the workshop.
- Ensure transport is arranged according to customer requirements.
- Ensure both internal and external customers are always kept updated and notified of progress, provide quality feedback to internal and external customers.
- Perform costing quotation with costing department, ensure costing quotations are accurate.
- Provide engineering and technical support to internal and external customers.
- Conduct audits according to ISO9001:2015 requirements.
- Accountable for operational team performance and development through management within policies and procedures to ensure achievement of standards and objectives.
- Management of overtime activities (standard time and actual time to complete).
- Manage labour relations activities and initiate corrective action where necessary.
- Submit weekly/monthly/quarterly reports to Group Leader: Service.
- Carrying out all reasonable instructions/ duties given to you by any member of management, from time to time.
Procurement
- Manage stock levels.
- Identify redundant stock, ensure that it is recorded and reported.
- Ensure values are accurately determined in accordance with market-related pricing structures.
- Inform internal and external customers of availability and quality of equipment.
- Ensure maintenance and repairs are performed in the most cost-effective manner.
- Ensure the transporting of parts in & out the service department is according to customer requirements.
- Keep customers informed of progress timeously.
- Ensure the procurement process is in line with objectives and BBBEE strategy.
- Manage and approve the costing quotation process.
Product/Technical Support
- Control and manage the technical (role specific) training process of all employees.
- Ensure the provision of technical and professional advice, support, and consultation to customers.
- Ensure employee's technical competencies are measured.
- Provide accurate advice to the relevant stakeholders aligned with customer needs and ensure queries are resolved within a set time frame.
- Work with HCAF as needed to improve the products.
- Support the sales team with technical tender related requirements
- National Diploma/BCom Degree in Business Management, Project Management or Business Administration.
- Trade Certificate: Diesel, Auto Electrician, HEM, Millwright (or related).
- Certificate/Diploma: Sales/Marketing/Finance (advantageous).
- MS Office (Intermediate to advance level).
- At least 5 years' OEM experience in a management role within the construction or mining industry.
- At least 8-10 years' OEM experience in an operational role within the construction and mining industry.
- Proven track record of negotiations contractual/service level agreement knowledge and implementation.
- Broad understanding of operational and contractual requirements.
- Good knowledge of the different business functions.
- Good mathematical skills to help manage the pricing, and estimates.
- Finance/contracts/procurement and vendor management.
- Expert knowledge of Hitachi Equipment and Parts.
- Must be willing to travel nationally.
