Introduction

A well-established organization in Midrand is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their team. Salary will be discussed in the interview.

Duties & Responsibilities

Major Areas of Responsibility:
Providing Finance Support to subsidiaries within the Transport Cooling Africa Group incorporating the
following key tasks:

Set standard costs: –

- “Bi-annually investigate,





calculate & update standard costs in Syspro in respect of bought out items &
outsourced activities.
- “Annually investigate, calculate & update standard costs in Syspro in respect of labour; fixed & variable
overheads;
- Continuously amend standard costs as and when required, i.e. due to new or amendment to BOM’s.
Maintain BOM’s
- Create BOM’s for any new parts, sub-assemblies or new product units; special units.
- Amend BOM’s in respect of any changes.
- Ensure that the correct costs are reflected in Syspro.
- Do calculations of expected costs for HE specials needed for quotation purposes.
- Management accounting functions
- Checked the correctness of costs of all imported items.
- Continually analyses the WIP account: –
– to identify any production variances;
– establish the reasons for these variances;
– ensure/assist in correcting the errors where and when needed;
– help define new works-instructions to prevent further errors where applicable; &






– allocate the variances to the appropriate account.
- Monthly reconcile the Non-Stock clearing account: –
– to identify job closure errors; &
– advise and assist in correcting the errors where and when needed.
- Compile monthly Income statement and month end reports.
- Monthly analyze Purchase Price Variances (PPV):
-to evaluate the relevancy of the standard costs;
– establish the reasons for major variance; &
– ensure/assist in correcting the errors where and when needed.
- Responsible for the financial correctness of every stock take.
- Compile quarterly the Obsolete & Excess report.
- Compile the annual budget

Ad Hoc tasks

- Control new stock codes (Critical to avoid confusion and to ensure correctness in Syspro): –






– allocate stock codes for all new bought-out items;
– allocate stock codes for all new HE made-in items;
– assist in the allocation stock codes for all new CP made-in items;
– enter and update relevant Syspro master file items; &
– advise all relevant parties of such new stock codes.
- Enter all new prices in Syspro as and when required.
- Regularly assist in analyzing and correcting the irregularities in the stock ledgers.
- Assist continuously in other areas of Syspro: –
– to extract information from Syspro & design reports;
– help to understand Syspro in order to approach tasks at hand better;
– analyze errors to establish the source/reason for errors;
– to find ways to eliminate errors to improve better handling of tasks;






– extract data for a specific usage, etc.; &
– to advise on financial matters.
- Assist GM to extract, collate and/or analyze reports and information as and when required.
- Other ad Hoc projects

Desired Experience & Qualification

Job Requirements:

- Academic Qualification in Cost & Management Accounting
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Syspro knowledge will be an advantage
- Knowledge of the financial structure; the classification of the products in the financial reporting.
- Knowledge of the inventory system and classification in product classes
- Must know the manufacturing environment
- In depth knowledge of BOM’s,





manufacturing processes, their cost breakdowns, labour allocations and the
application in Syspro.
