BULK WATER SCHEME MANAGER
Requirements
- B.Tech (Watercare/Civil Eng. or related Technical qualification).
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in operational management of large
water infrastructure which may include: large Water Treatment
Plants ( >50ML/d), storage dams (33 000 Ml), deep borehole
schemes ( > 500m), large diameter pipelines ( >700mm dn) &
associated pipeline valves and infrastructure.
- Computer Literacy, Knowledge of SAP; PM Maintenance, Excel,
Word and associated programmes.
- A valid Driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
- Required to work in all weather conditions; work outside normal
working hours during emergencies when applicable.
- Required to be on standby when applicable.
- Required to travel outside the City boundary when applicable.
- A Class V operator registration with DWS and experience in
catchment management, forestry or construction safety
supervision and will be an advantage.
Key Performance Areas
- Manages delegated statutory duties with regard to the OHAS Act,
Water Services and Dam Safety Act.
- Manages several operations depots: deep aquifer borehole
scheme, 2 major raw water impoundments ( >33 000Ml) and
surrounding catchment area; large ( >100 Ml/d) Water Treatment
Plant,
and various large diameter ( >500mm) bulk water supply
pipelines within the area of authority.
- Manages the critical maintenance, repair or upgrade projects
associated with the functioning of the depot infrastructure
facilities, plant and equipment.
- Plans, prioritises and schedules OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
- Manages and controls management performance indicators,
productivity and discipline within the depots.
- Overseas Administrative Programmes and Wayleave compliance
procedures within the depots.
- Performs diverse management and administrative tasks/ activities
associated with functioning of the various operational depots and
compiles in-depth operational reports.
- Supervises the various ISO and SHREQ programmes associated
