Registered Nurse | Theatre Experience | Cath LabFunction: NursingFacility: Life Bay View Private HospitalPosition: Registered Nurse | Theatre Experience | Cath LabIntroduction:A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse Theatre Experienced based at Life Bay View Hospital – Cath Lab unit, reporting to Theatre Unit Manager, A Viljoen. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the surgical team to perform surgical procedures and to ensure that the patient receives optimal care in accordance with the company and hospital strategic objectives.Critical Outputs:Ensuring effective financial management by:Ensuring accurate charging by managing theatre clocking timeEnsuring consignment stock,
equipment and prosthesis is charged according to policyManaging stock by participating in regular stock taking and controlling of the consignment stock in accordance with the hospital (local) policyAffecting the functioning of theatre equipment and instrumentation by:Ensuring the correct use of theatre equipment and instrumentation by educating and supervising staff on the correct utilization of the equipmentProviding quality patient care by:Obtaining the correct information pre-operatively and visiting the patient post-operativelyEnsuring that the patient is comfortable and assisting the doctor during the surgical procedureEnsuring effective people management by:Providing theatre specific training and assessing the competence of staffAssisting the Unit Manager to correctly monitor the normal and overtime hoursEnsuring the theatre team works according to the scope of practiceGiving feedback to the unit manager in order to assess optimal performanceEffective quality and infection prevention management by:Ensuring the use of personal protective clothing and complying with ISO requirementsEnsuring the disposal of medical waste in order to effectively control infectionAdhering to sterility principlesEffective relationships with internal/external stakeholders:Attending review and consultative forum meetings to maintain healthy relationships with internal stakeholdersMaintaining a healthy relationship with external stakeholders by reporting and escalating unresolved issues to the unit managerRequirements:General Nursing Degree / Diploma and registration with SANCRelevant experience in Cath-lab and technical skill to meet the critical outputsExperience with TAVI, Stroke procedures will be an advantageUnderstanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role playersComputer proficiency would be an advantageOwn transport essentialMust be able to work flexible hoursCompetencies:Problem-solving, analysis and judgementResilienceEngaging diversityVerbal & written communication and presentationInfluencingDrive & energyExcellence orientationEthical behaviorBuilding relationshipsCustomer responsivenessOrganisational awarenessLeading by exampleMotivating and developing peopleEmail: ****** date: Friday, October 4, 2024Internal applicants: Before making an application, you are requested to discuss your application with your line manager.
