Introduction
Our client in the Hospitality and Culinary industry, is currently looking for a Demi Chef de Partie, in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing and presenting dishes to the highest standard in line with the restaurant’s fine dining ethos.
- Work across various sections of the kitchen as required, including cold kitchen, hot kitchen, and pastry.
- Maintain strict hygiene and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas.
- Ensure consistency and quality in food preparation and presentation, adhering to the established recipes and plating guidelines.
- Support stock control and ingredient ordering processes, ensuring the availability of fresh and high-quality ingredients.
- Assist in the development of new menu items, providing input for creative and seasonal dishes.
- Ensure that kitchen equipment is properly maintained and used in a safe manner.
- Help train and mentor Junior Kitchen Staff, ensuring a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
- Contribute to the overall kitchen cleanliness and organization, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Report directly to the Chef de Partie and work collaboratively with other Kitchen Staff.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Culinary Certification or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen environment.
- Previous experience working as a Demi Chef de Partie or in a similar role, ideally in a bistro or fine dining restaurant.
- Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for bistro-style cuisine and a keen eye for detail in plating and presentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High levels of energy, enthusiasm, and passion for culinary arts.
- Strong dedication to delivering top-quality dishes and maintaining high standards.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the team.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a high-pressure kitchen environment.
Package & Remuneration
- Up to R7 500 – R9 500 CTC per month.
