Introduction
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee and manage the daily operations of our warehouse. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient and safe storage of materials, equipment, and products essential for the company’s operations. The Warehouse Manager will play a crucial role in supporting procurement, logistics, and project execution teams by ensuring that all required materials are available on-site when needed and are handled according to company procedures and safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of solar panels, inverters, cable management, cables, and other components.
- Implement and maintain inventory management systems (manual or electronic) to track stock levels, orders, deliveries, and stock movements.
- Perform regular stock counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
Material Handling & Storage:
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and labelling of materials and equipment.
- Implement and enforce warehouse safety procedures in compliance with health and safety regulations, particularly when handling hazardous materials.
- Monitor and maintain warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
Logistics Coordination:
- Collaborate with procurement and project teams to forecast material needs based on project timelines and construction phases.
- Coordinate with logistics providers for goods receipt and dispatch of materials to project sites according to project schedules.
- Manage deliveries to project sites and resolve any delivery issues, such as damaged items or delays.
Warehouse Organization:
- Design and implement efficient warehouse layouts to maximize space and streamline workflows.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
- Manage incoming and outgoing goods efficiently, minimizing wastage and spoilage.
Team Management:
- Supervise warehouse staff, including scheduling shifts, delegating tasks, and ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Provide training and guidance to the warehouse team on safety procedures and equipment handling.
- Evaluate staff performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with South African legal requirements regarding health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies.
- Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and order fulfillment.
- Manage warehouse-related documentation,
including invoices and delivery notes.
Health & Safety:
- Enforce strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety drills, and ensure the warehouse is equipped with necessary fire protection and first aid measures.
Sustainability:
- Implement waste reduction and recycling practices in line with the company's renewable energy goals and South African sustainability standards.
- Support initiatives to improve energy efficiency in warehouse operations, such as using LED lighting or solar-powered equipment.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Education:
- National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehouse Management, or a related field.
- Candidates with extensive experience but without formal qualifications will be considered.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in warehouse management, preferably in the renewable energy or construction sector.
- Experience with inventory management systems and knowledge of solar EPC project requirements will be an advantage.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in South Africa.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and warehouse management software.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
