Job Title: Data Governance Analyst
Location: Sandton, Johannesburg
Contract type: Contract (11-months)

The Senior Data Governance Consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, compliance, and security, driving best practices in data management across the organization.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive data governance frameworks tailored to client needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish data policies, standards, and procedures.
- Conduct data quality assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide guidance on data compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Provide support to the ever-evolving client strategy of person-centred health and care. Continuously deepen the awareness of the strategy to address new challenges within the Healthcare sector, to build a competitive advantage and sustainability through the client moat strategy.
- Support the implementation and update of Data Governance procedures, standards, training documents, presentations and Data Governance detail plans.
- Proven track record in business process analysis, systems and data analysis.
- Ability to handle ambiguity, to manage organisational complexity and to take decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure full compliance to statutory regulations, policies, procedures, best practice, professional standards as well as the client strategy.
- Participate in the process towards compliance of improvement interventions and provide regular progress reports to the Team Lead: Data Management.
- Oversee the collation,
distribution and presentation of data and statistics as required by business.
- Support Data Analysts and others who need to generate value from data to find and use the data they need appropriately.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops to promote data governance awareness.
- Ensure that the business has access to complete and accurate data to support decision making.
- Monitor and report on data governance initiatives and their effectiveness.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data governance.
Experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in data science, Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- DAMA or equivalent data management certification.
- 3-7 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related role.
- Exposure to the health care industry is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and methodologies.
- Experience in business process modelling and business process analysis.
- Strong technical ability in data modelling, design, SQL and analytics tools.
- Experience with data quality assessment tools and data management platforms.
- Exposure to the health care industry is beneficial.
- Knowledge of relevant data privacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Previous experience with data processing systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
