Main job function
Job Purpose: Responsible for implementing quality control processes, driving continuous improvements to increase SRD and decrease scrap. Leading root cause analysis for internal & external customer complaints. Providing guidance and mentorship to the junior quality engineers.
1. KEY PERFORMANCE AREA
Performance Area & Performance Standard
Projects
- Quality lead in feasibility studies
- Lead SQAM activities
- Create PIS from 2D drawings or CAD data
- Create checking fixture concepts
- Review and approval checking fixture designs
- Checking fixture evaluation and buying off checking fixtures
- Involved in quality assurance, creating control plans with the respective team
Quality Control Engineering
- Lead internal and external customer complaints
- Lead PPM reduction, scrap analysis and root cause investigations
- Lead improvement activities, increase SDR,
- Review designs/drawings/CAD & ECI's from customer, update current quality documentation or create new
- Resolve quality issues concerning-capability, tolerance/s and material related issues (Troubleshooting)
- Liaise with draughtsman regarding checking fixture concepts and designs
- Conduct process capability studies
HRD
- Ensure there is an effective and cost-efficient structure in place.
- Coach, train and mentor subordinates in both classroom and OJT scenarios.
- Responsible for ensuring succession planning for all critical positions.
People Management
- Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within the area of accountability.
- coach and develop a team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
- Motivate and coach the team to operational success.
- Monitor the team's completion of tasks and ensure KPI's are met.
Qualification in Engineering
Minimum 8 years' experience in Quality engineering in an automotive environment
Knowledge:
Core tools
Sound knowledge of SQAM, VDA6 and other customer requirements
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specification
Knowledge and understanding of IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and VDA6
Interpretation of external quality standards
