Associate Professorship in the English Department. This position is at UJ's highly ranked English department on Kingsway Boulevard.
The successful candidate will be able to teach both theory and ‘film as text' across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidate should also have a strong research profile with international connections, as well as experience with academic administration. This position offers the opportunity to join a dynamic department who excel at both teaching and research on a global scale.
Responsibilities:
- Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Conduct and publish research in accredited publications
- Course coordination and general academic administrative duties
- Postgraduate supervision
- Establish international relationships
- Strong academic citizenship
- PhD in English or Film Studies or related disciplines
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Higher education
- Minimum of 5 accredited articles
- Evidence of postgraduate supervision
- Evidence of course coordination and development

- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work outside areas of expertise if necessary
- Good planning and administrative skills
- Ability to teach and supervise across the curriculum
Recommendations:
- A published book or progress towards completing a book is desirable.
- Evidence of international connections preferred.
- Interdisciplinary orientation also preferred.
