Introduction

We're accepting applications for the position of Credit Controller. The purpose of this position will be to manage and control the debtors ledger, attend to customer queries, handle month end tasks, work within the framework of set collection targets as agreed with management, collect outstanding balances and many other functions as outlined below.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Managing and controlling the Debtors Ledger efficiently
- Administering daily financial and account management tasks
- Attending to customers promptly and professionally
- Completing month-end tasks accurately and within deadlines






- Working within the framework of set collection targets agreed upon with management
- Collecting all outstanding balances effectively
- Managing arrear accounts and minimising bad debt
- Monitoring credit limits and communicating with the manager
- Allocating payments and settlement discounts accurately
- Recording all payments received meticulously
- Following up on remittances promptly
- Allocating payments according to the remittance provided
- Accurately recording all necessary account adjustments into journals after authorisation
- Working through unallocated cash reconciliations efficiently
- Reconciling accounts, particularly those overdue by more than 60 days
- Drawing up journals with appropriate supporting documents
- Contacting customers daily regarding outstanding balances
- Ensuring all documents requested by customers are emailed within 48 hours
- Recording all telephonic conversations with customers in the document handling system
- Resolving customer queries related to outstanding credits, incorrect invoices, credit limits, and payments






- Diarising direct deposit dates and following up on due dates
- Advising the representative and Branch Manager of customers to be put on hold
- Ensuring all payments, credits, and journals are processed before month-end cut-off
- Ensuring all payments are balanced correctly

Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric and a Credit Management Qualification
- At least 5 years wholesale and retail credit control experience
- Experience working on a mix of government, national and commercial accounts
