As a Junior Product Manager, you will play a key role in managing the product lifecycle and driving the success of both print and digital products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content, technology, and sales, to ensure that products align with Company's strategic objectives, meet customer needs, and achieve revenue and profitability targets.
This position is crucial in shaping product strategies, ensuring product-market fit, and managing product development, pricing, and performance in alignment with the business's growth objectives.
Contract - 5 months duration, on-site in Cape Town
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Management
- Work closely with teams to define the vision and strategy for products.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to develop product roadmaps, define features, and prioritize tasks.
- Translate market and customer needs into product requirements and ensure effective execution.
- Collaborate in Agile environments, participate in Scrum meetings, and manage product sprints.
- Liaise with digital and product teams to provide updates, deliver training rollouts, and ensure on-time product delivery.
- Continuously evaluate product progress and performance to ensure alignment with business goals.
2. New Product Development & Innovation
- Guide the product development process, ensuring the success of new product launches and enhancements.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform product innovation and differentiation.
- Lead wireframe, mock-up, and prototype development to translate product vision into actionable designs.
3. Product Profitability & Revenue Achievement
- Ensure the profitability of products by analyzing costs, pricing structures,
and revenue streams.
- Develop financial evaluations to guide pricing, packaging, and discount strategies.
- Monitor product performance and provide insights to improve profitability and market positioning.
4. Pricing Strategy & Management
- Develop optimal pricing strategies to balance profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct annual reviews of pricing models, incorporating feedback from Exco and Business Unit Managers.
- Maintain a database of pricing history and conduct competitor price analysis to ensure competitiveness.
5. Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, risk management policies, and external regulations.
- Identify and mitigate risks that could impact product strategy or performance.

Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with publishing, tech development, and content teams to ensure alignment on product strategies.
- Work closely with Marketing and Sales teams to coordinate product launches, campaigns, and promotional plans.
- Establish key relationships with industry bodies, authors, and other external stakeholders to promote Company's brand and products.
7. People & Vendor Management
- Support talent development within the Product Management team, identifying high-potential talent for succession planning.
- Manage third-party vendors and freelancers to meet deadlines and ensure quality deliverables.
8. Cross-Departmental Liaison
- Act as a central point of coordination among content, technology, sales,
and marketing teams to ensure smooth product development and launch processes.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Product Management, or a related field.
- Experience in product management, preferably within publishing or digital content industries.
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and Agile methodologies.
- Proven ability to analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive products.
- Financial acumen with experience in product pricing, profitability analysis, and revenue forecasting.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and departments.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and participating in Scrum meetings.
