Technical Procurement Officer

Bellville

A vacancy exists in the Finance and Administration Department reporting to the Procurement Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for all the Technical Procurement in John Thompson. This will include the procuring of all goods and services for MRP, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Water Tube, Package Boilers,





Environmental and wherever the need arises.

- Review the Technical scope of Supply of internal requestors
- Liaise with internal and external suppliers and the various departments and branches
- Prepare Request for Quotations especially technical scope of work
- Market Research for alternative suppliers and manage trials with new suppliers
- Supplier Selection and Adjudication
- Reduce cost by means of Negotiating
- Coordinating Purchases between Suppliers
- Expedite due and overdue orders
- Groom Procurement Officers in technical aspects and share knowledge
- Deputise for Procurement Supervisor and Procurement Manager as and when required
- Liaise with QC on all Procurement related NCR's and close out NCRs while sharing learnings internally and with suppliers to prevent recurrence
- Liaise with Engineering on all technical queries on behalf of the Procurement department
- Review newly opened stock codes and source suitable supplier,





updating price and lead times to maintain an up-to-date stock code database at all times

- Grade 12 (minimum)
- Mechanical/electrical trade/engineering qualification or background advantageous
- Minimum 10 years' Procurement experience in industrial manufacturing, Repairs and Services or Maintenance environment or in an equivalent Technical Buying role in an industrial environment
- Minimum 3 years ERP system experience (Syspro preferable)
- Computer Literacy with Office 365, MS Office (Excel, Word, Teams etc)
- Proven ability to read technical drawings, engineering codes and technical specifications
- Sound Knowledge of welding,





fabrication or casting processes
