We are seeking a highly skilled Senior OSP Technician to oversee the construction and implementation of Outside Plant (OSP) infrastructure, specifically focusing on civils and fibre installations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that OSP, civils, and fibre network infrastructure projects are executed to the highest technical standards, with a strong emphasis on quality control, safety compliance, and project timelines. This position also requires technical expertise in coordinating with outsourced service providers, inspecting installations, and providing support to ensure that the infrastructure is built according to the plan and specifications.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Perform continuous quality checks on all OSP/civils/fibre infrastructure implementations to ensure conformance to telecommunications quality and technical standards.
- Monitor and assess the safety of OSP and civils network infrastructure installations, ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines and OHSA regulations.
- Ensure that the implementation of fibre and civils infrastructure aligns with the approved plans, telecom industry standards, and regulatory specifications.
Risk Management & Mitigation:
- Identify potential risks during the implementation of OSP/fibre and civils network infrastructure and actively participate in risk management and mitigation strategies.
- Assess deviations from the project plan, issue deviation assessments, and recommend corrective actions or deviation requests.
- Ensure timeline commitments are met, addressing any delays or issues in the construction process.
Contractor Performance & Service Delivery:
- Evaluate the quality-of-service delivery from contractors,
ensuring their work meets the technical specifications and quality standards defined in the project.
- Act as a key point of contact between the company and outsourced service providers, overseeing the implementation of telecoms infrastructure and verifying the quality of the installations.
- Provide technical expertise to contractors, guiding them in line with project requirements, regulatory standards, and best practices.
As-Built Documentation & Certification:
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of As-Built documentation and project deliverables received from contractors.
- Verify the completion of all necessary certifications from relevant professional bodies or authorities to confirm that the infrastructure has been built according to industry standards.
- Ensure that the As-Built data accurately reflects the completed installations for future reference and maintenance.
Installation Supervision & Inspection:
- Oversee the installation of OSP, civils, and fibre network infrastructure, ensuring that each installation is conducted according to technical specifications and safety guidelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections and testing of the civils infrastructure to ensure compliance with construction standards and identify potential issues before they arise.
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of contractors and construction teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Technical Expertise & Collaboration:
- Act as the technical expert on the OSP/civils/fibre infrastructure projects,
providing guidance and resolving issues as they arise during construction.
- Collaborate with external service providers to verify the quality of installations, ensuring projects meet the company's requirements and specifications.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in telecommunications infrastructure, tools, and techniques to enhance project implementation.
Emergency Availability:
- Be available for emergency callouts and support 24/7, as required, to address urgent issues related to network infrastructure or installation.
Education:
- 3-year tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5-8 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with at least 2 years as a senior technician in telecoms OSP/civils implementation.
- Extensive experience in the construction and implementation of fibre network and civils infrastructure, including patching, splicing, site inspections, and testing.
- Proven track record in overseeing the quality control, safety, and compliance of OSP/civils/fibre network installations.
- Strong understanding of risk management, deviation assessment, and project timeline management in the context of telecoms infrastructure projects.
- Experience in coordinating with outsourced service providers to ensure quality and timely delivery of telecom infrastructure projects.
Additional Requirements:
- Certification from relevant professional bodies or authorities for completed builds (e.g., civil works, fibre networks).
- Valid driver's license and own transport (required for site visits and inspections).
- Ability to work in dynamic environments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and service providers. Able to act as the point of contact for technical discussions and quality verification.
Technology Proficiency:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) and familiar with telecoms design and planning tools.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements related to OSP/civils/fibre network installations.
