Our client is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Solar Design Engineer to join their team in the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) market. The Design Engineer will be responsible for developing, designing, and overseeing the execution of projects from an engineering perspective.
1. Project Development and Design:
o Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and develop custom designs that meet client specifications and industry standards.
o Create comprehensive project designs and detailed engineering plans, ensuring that all elements align with the overall project objectives.
o Ensure designs are compliant with relevant local and international standards, including health, safety,
and environmental regulations.
2. Collaboration with Project Teams:
o Work closely with the project engineer, project manager, and procurement manager to coordinate project execution from an engineering standpoint.
o Provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring seamless collaboration between design, procurement, and implementation teams.
o Assist in the identification of any potential engineering challenges and proactively propose solutions.
3. New Technology Onboarding:
o Lead the due diligence process when new technology is onboarded, including evaluating technical specifications, compatibility with existing systems, and overall feasibility.
o Work closely with the procurement team to ensure that new technologies meet quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness criteria.
o Stay updated on the latest technological advancements in the EPC market to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of innovation
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in design engineering within the EPC or related sectors.
- Proven experience with large-scale projects, particularly in renewable energy, infrastructure, or construction.
- Strong proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Knowledge of South African and international engineering standards and regulations.
- Own Transport
- Valid driver license
