Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Financial Manager to join our small business team of 10. The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full financial function, assisting in warehouse activities, and preparing for potential growth into a director role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Handle the full accounting function, including preparing and managing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Oversee tax compliance and computation, ensuring all tax obligations are met.
- Perform month-end financial close-off, including working after hours from home if necessary.
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Operational Involvement:
- Be prepared to assist with shipments in and out of the warehouse, working hands-on when required.
- Collaborate with the team in the warehouse for smooth operations related to financial shipments.
- Leadership & Growth:
- Supervise and mentor the Junior Accountant, ensuring professional development.
- Work closely with the business owner, with potential to grow into a director position based on performance.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a Financial Manager role or similar position.
- Proven experience in managing the full accounting function in a small business environment.
- Tax understanding and computation skills.
- Education & Skills:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of balance sheet preparation, cash flow management, and tax compliance.
- Proficiency in financial software and Excel.
- Characteristics:
- Hands-on, proactive, and willing to support various functions within the company, including operational tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work overtime from home, particularly during month-end close-off.
- Location & Travel:
- Must reside in the proximity of Midrand, Centurion, or Pretoria to minimize commute time.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: Market related salary, inclusive of medical aid and pension.
- Incentive: Annual performance-based incentive in December (not guaranteed).
