The role of the OPERATIONS MANAGER will report into the COO and be responsible for the operations for 3 facilities with complex production lines.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure Operational Efficiency through
- Meeting production targets
- Developing and implementing production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
Uphold strict Safety and Compliance through
- Enforcing safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety among all employees.
- Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies related to environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Ensuring SSOPs are maintained and enforced.
Manage Operational Costs effectively through
- Budget tracking and adherence
- Monitoring operational expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
- Analysing financial data and prepare budgets to support operational planning and decision-making.
Develop and lead a high-performing operations team through
- Monitoring and reporting on time and attendance of the production team.
- Plan for absenteeism cover and ensure there are sufficient team members to run all required production lines each day
- Lead and motivate the production team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team members' skills and knowledge and cross train where needed.
Experience and qualifications:
- Engineering qualification or similar
- 8 years experience in a similar role (of which 4 years should have been in a supervisory/ mentoring capacity)
- Experience running multiple production lines
This role will suit a manufacturing or engineering operational manager who enjoys managing and leading through a hands-on approach. Someone who is comfortable working in a warehouse environment and can influence and inspire staff to achieve operational efficiencies at all levels.
This role is based in Pinetown, KZN.
