Is this you?
You're a seasoned Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) professional with a passion for ensuring Zero Harm on large-scale construction projects. You've got at least 10 years of experience in renewable energy projects, ideally within the utility-scale solar or battery energy storage space. You're adept at handling site safety, managing contractors, and driving HSE initiatives from start to finish. Analytical by nature, you thrive on attention to detail, have excellent communication skills, and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams to achieve common safety goals.
What you'll be doing (and why you'll enjoy it)
As the HSE Manager, you'll lead all aspects of health,
safety, and environmental management across one of South Africa's largest battery energy storage projects. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you'll work closely with contractors, environmental officers, and the project team to ensure a proactive approach to HSE. Your goal? Achieve a Zero Harm project execution through safety trainings, regular inspections, risk assessments, and audits. You'll play a key role in advising leadership on HSE compliance, managing on-site permits, and coordinating emergency response plans. Ensuring compliance with both local and national regulations will be a critical aspect of your role, as will the effective communication of safety standards across all levels of the project.

You should be proficient in managing HSE within large construction projects and hold relevant certifications such as Working at Heights, First Aid, Firefighting, and HIRA. Experience in utility-scale renewable projects,
particularly in hybrid execution, will set you apart. Excellent knowledge of the OHS Act, labour laws, and environmental permitting is essential. Strong communication, report writing, and negotiation skills are also key to this role.
What you'll get
Competitive salary with benefits, an opportunity to be part of a transformative project in South Africa's renewable energy landscape, and the chance to contribute to a company committed to sustainability and innovation.
