Introduction
ACCOUNTANT – REQUIRED IN UMHLANGA
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Work with department managers to devise targets, track performance and highlight opportunities for growth.
- Financial Analysis: conduct financial analysis to assist with the decision making process. Create and maintain financial models. Assist with project and resource costings, as well as case profitability analysis.
- Financial Forecasting: Create and maintain forecasting models to support the firm’s strategy.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow projections and manage cash flow effectively to meet operational needs. Implement strategies to optimise working capital and minimize financial risks.
- Budget Management: Work closely with department heads to develop annual budgets and track performance against budgeted targets. Identify variances and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax laws, Law society regulations, and internal policies. Coordinate with external auditors for audits and other compliance requirements.
- Financial Strategy: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business goals. Evaluate investment opportunities, mergers, and acquisitions to support growth initiatives

1. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret and analyse complex financial data.
2. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
3. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
4. Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance. BCom/B.Com Dip Acc/CTA/CIMA or newly qualified CA.
- Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is preferred.
- Experience in a legal background an advantage
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling and analysis tools
- 3years’ experience in a similar role
