The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will lead a section of our design office, focusing on geotechnical engineering and the analysis and design of tailings storage facilities (TSFs). This role requires a highly experienced engineer who can manage projects, guide a team of engineers, and ensure the delivery of high-quality design solutions. The Senior Engineer will play a critical role in project planning, client interaction, technical leadership, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership:
- Lead and manage the geotechnical engineering team in the design and analysis of TSFs.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on geotechnical engineering projects.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
2. Project Management:
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
- Prepare and review project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
3. Design and Analysis:
- Develop and review detailed geotechnical designs for TSFs, including stability analyses, seepage analysis, and settlement predictions.
- Utilize advanced geotechnical software for modeling and analysis.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of design documents.
4. Client Interaction:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and project delivery.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations and reports to clients.
5. Team Development:
- Mentor and train junior engineers and technical staff.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
6. Quality Assurance:
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures for design processes.
- Conduct peer reviews and audits of design work.
- Ensure adherence to company quality standards and best practices.
7. Innovation and Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering and TSF design.
- Promote the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the design office.
- Education: BSc or higher degree, or B Tech, in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering with a focus on TSF design and analysis.
- Licenses/Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PrEng) or equivalent certification.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in geotechnical and modelling software (e.g., RocScience, GeoStudio, Plaxis, Muk3D), CAD software, and project management tools.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
