As a Senior Commercial Trader in the edible oil manufacturing industry, you will be responsible for managing the trading activities related to edible oil products. You will play a vital role in executing trading strategies, securing supply contracts, managing inventory levels, and optimizing profitability. This position requires expertise in commodity trading, market analysis, and a strong understanding of the edible oil industry.
1. Trading and Contract Execution: Execute trading activities by buying and selling edible oil products based on market conditions and company strategies. Negotiate and secure supply contracts with suppliers and customers, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
Monitor contract performance and resolve any disputes that may arise.
2. Market Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, price fluctuations, and supply-demand dynamics in the edible oil industry. Stay informed about global market conditions, regulatory changes, and competitor activities that may impact trading decisions.
3. Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to price volatility, supply disruptions, and currency fluctuations. Monitor market indicators and establish hedging mechanisms to protect against market risks. Implement appropriate risk management tools and instruments, such as futures contracts and options.
4. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of edible oil products, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet customer demands while minimizing storage costs and obsolescence. Coordinate with production, logistics, and warehousing teams to ensure smooth flow of goods and timely deliveries.
5. Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, brokers, and other trading partners in the industry. Negotiate favourable terms and conditions for contracts and establish mutually beneficial partnerships. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as sales, operations, and finance teams, to align trading activities with business objectives
6. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, trade laws, and internal policies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to trading activities, contracts, invoices, and financial transactions.
7. Reporting and Analysis: Generate reports and provide regular updates on trading activities, including volume, pricing, profitability, and market trends.
Analyse trading performance, identify areas for improvement, and propose strategies to optimize profitability and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in finance or commodity trading are a plus.
- Proven experience in commodity trading, preferably within the edible oil or agricultural commodities industry.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret market data and trends.
- Knowledge of risk management techniques and financial instruments used in commodity trading.
- Familiarity with trading platforms, order management systems, and market analysis tools.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheets and financial software for data analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of relevant regulations, trade laws, and compliance requirements in the commodity trading industry.
