We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our client's team in a predominantly administrative role. The primary focus will be on managing Incapacity Leave, monitoring Absenteeism, and promoting Employee Wellness. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of occupational health policies, excellent communication skills, and a passion for fostering a healthy and supportive work environment.
Key Responsibilities: Incapacity Leave and Absenteeism Management: · Monitor and manage employee sick leave, incapacity leave, and long-term absenteeism cases.
· Conduct case reviews to ensure that medical documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant policies.
· Liaise with medical practitioners and employees to facilitate effective communication around incapacity and return-to-work plans.
· Coordinate the disability management process, including medical assessments and adjustments to work duties where required.
· Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on absenteeism trends and provide recommendations for proactive interventions.
· Collaborate with HR and legal teams to ensure compliance with company policies and labor laws regarding sick leave and incapacity.
Employee Wellness Program · Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of Employee Wellness Programs aimed at promoting mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
· Organize wellness events, workshops, and health screenings for employees.
· Provide one-on-one counseling and guidance to employees regarding personal health concerns and work-life balance.
· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of wellness programs through data collection and employee feedback.
· Act as the main point of contact for internal wellness initiatives, including stress management, nutrition, mental health, and fitness programs.
Occupational Health Administration · Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date employee health records, including leave applications and medical certificates.
· Compile and present monthly and quarterly health reports on absenteeism, wellness program outcomes, and incapacity leave statistics.
· Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
· Assist in auditing and reviewing health and wellness policies and procedures within the workplace.
· Work closely with HR and management to implement health and wellness policies that align with the company's objectives.
Requirements: · Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health Nursing or related field.
· Registration with SANC (South African Nursing Council) or SASOHN.
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Occupational Health Nurse, with a focus on absenteeism, incapacity, and wellness programs.
· Solid understanding of disability management, incapacity leave procedures, and relevant labor laws.
· Excellent administrative skills, including the ability to handle sensitive data, maintain records, and generate reports.
· Proficiency in using HR/Health management systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Strong communication and counseling skills,
with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with employees and external stakeholders.
· Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contribute to policy development.
Preferred Qualifications: · Experience in case management and handling long-term sick leave cases.
· Certification in Employee Wellness or relevant mental health and well-being programs.
· Familiarity with occupational health software and HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems).
