Introduction
Our client, in the cold storage industry, is looking for a Compliance Officer to join their team. Our client is looking for a dynamic and dedicated Compliance Officer (SHEQ) to join their team and drive their commitment to excellence in Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality. This position is based in Cape Town and is responsible for overseeing compliance at 2 depots.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead SHEQ Initiatives: Develop and implement robust SHEQ policies, procedures and initiatives.
- Ensure Compliance: Conduct regular audits and inspections, maintain certifications and permits and drive close out of findings to ensure adherence to SHEQ standards.
- Investigate & Improve:
Analyse incidents and accidents and implement effective corrective actions.
- Educate & Empower: Provide comprehensive SHEQ training and support to all employees.
- Monitor & Report: Track SHEQ performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
- Risk Identification and mitigation: Lead Risk Assessments and serve as HACCP team leader.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- National Diploma in Food Technology, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a cold storage or food manufacturing environment. Experience in HACCP /FSSC 22000 system implementation and monitoring.
- Own transport and valid driver’s license required
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive attitude and a genuine passion for promoting a workplace safety and food safety culture.
