Introduction
We are seeking an experienced and certified Scrum Master to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the Banking or Insurance sectors and deep expertise in facilitating Scrum and Agile methodologies. The Scrum Master will play a key role in coaching Scrum teams, overseeing Agile practices, and driving successful delivery within the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) environment. This role is crucial for managing software project lifecycles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and contributing to our digital transformation initiatives.
Contract for 6 months, possibility to be renewed, Onsite, Johannesburg
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Coaching & Facilitation:
- Coach Scrum teams on Agile best practices and principles to improve delivery.
- Facilitate SAFe and Scrum processes, including stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Foster an environment of servant leadership and team collaboration.
- Programme Increment & Delivery Oversight:
- Oversee the execution of Programme Increments within the SAFe framework, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Monitor and facilitate Agile ceremonies to promote consistent and high-quality delivery.
- Agile Transformation & Leadership:
- Lead Agile transformation initiatives, helping to implement scalable Agile practices in the organization.
- Act as an ambassador for Agile principles across the business, ensuring best practices are adhered to.
- Support teams with backlog prioritization, ensuring alignment with customer experience goals and core banking platforms.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, developers, and QA,
to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Engage with senior stakeholders and the leadership team to provide regular updates on project progress.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Facilitate retrospectives and encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the teams.
- Identify and remove impediments to team progress.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business (BSc, BCom), or related fields.
- Honours or Master’s degree is advantageous.
Certifications:
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM).
- AgilePM® Practitioner & Foundation certifications.
- SAFe Scaled Agilist certification.
Experience:
- 6+ years of experience as a Scrum Master,
preferably in the Banking or Insurance sectors.
- Proven track record of coaching Scrum teams and facilitating Agile methodologies.
- Extensive experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) in large-scale programs.
- Expertise in software project management and digital transformation initiatives.
Skills & Competencies:
- Agile Methodologies: Strong knowledge of Agile and Scrum principles, with hands-on experience facilitating Scrum processes.
- Leadership: Proven servant leadership abilities and experience leading cross-functional teams in high-paced environments.
- Project Delivery: Strong understanding of Agile delivery frameworks, including backlog management, sprint execution, and project timelines.
- Technical Understanding: Familiarity with customer experience platforms,
core banking systems, and digital transformation in a banking environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to manage stakeholder expectations and deliver clear, concise reports.
