Introduction
The National Payroll Administrator is responsible for processing the accurate and timely payment of salaries to employees at Lupo Bakery. This role ensures compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and labour laws while maintaining payroll data integrity, confidentiality, and efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
1. Payroll Processing:
- Prepare and process full-cycle payroll (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) for salaried and hourly employees.
- Accurately calculate salaries, allowances, overtime, deductions, bonuses, and any other payments.
- Receive and reconcile the wage book from Human Resources to payroll.
- Continuously communicate deductions,
absent days, and night shift allowances with the supervisors and obtain approvals.
- Ensure payroll is completed in an accurate, timely, and compliant manner.
2. Data Management & Record Keeping:
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including job titles, work hours, pay rates, and tax statuses.
- Manage the payroll software system, ensuring all data is current and accurate.
- Handle the onboarding and termination payroll processes, including final salaries.
3. Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with tax and labour laws, including PAYE, UIF, and any regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related statutory returns (e.g., tax filings, provident fund contributions, etc.).
- Assist with the completion of audits and generate required reports for internal and external stakeholders.
4. Employee Support:
- Address payroll-related enquiries from employees and resolve discrepancies.
- Provide employees with statements of earnings, payslips, and leave balances.
- Manage employee queries regarding leave balances, deductions, overtime, allowances, claims, and other payroll issues.
5. Coordination with HR & Finance Departments:
- Work closely with HR to ensure accurate processing of new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes in compensation.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure payroll funding is secured and reconciled against budget.
- Ensure alignment with HR and finance on benefits, tax codes, and compensation packages.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and implement solutions for efficiency and accuracy.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in payroll-related regulations and FMCG industry practices.
7. System Management:
- Ensure payroll systems are functioning efficiently, liaising with external providers for troubleshooting as necessary.
- Test and implement system updates, particularly around tax and labour law changes.
8. Confidentiality & Security:
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll information.
- Ensure data protection and security measures are adhered to, preventing unauthorised access to payroll records.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in finance, accounting, human resources, or a related field.
- Certification in payroll administration (advantageous).
- 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably within the FMCG sector.
- Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., Sage, SAP, or VIP).
Interested?

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Fast-paced and deadline-driven environment typical of FMCG companies.
- May require extended hours during payroll periods or audits.
- Frequent interaction with HR, finance,
and employees across all departments
This position will be based at Gauteng (Randburg) and you will be responsible to manage both Johannesburg and KZN bracnches
