Overall purpose of the role
The Snowflake Data Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data architecture solutions using the Snowflake platform. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure efficient data management and analytics.
This role is pivotal in leveraging Snowflake's capabilities to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Architecture Design: Create and maintain scalable, robust data models and architecture on the Snowflake platform.
- Data Integration: Develop ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from various sources into Snowflake.
- Performance Tuning: Optimize data storage and query performance to ensure efficient data retrieval.
- Data Governance: Implement data governance practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data solutions.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and standards.
- Training & Support: Provide guidance and support to teams using Snowflake for data analysis and reporting.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in data architecture, with a focus on cloud data solutions, specifically Snowflake
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL and Snowflake-specific functions.
- Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Talend, Apache Airflow, dbt).
- Familiarity with data modeling techniques (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro Core Certification) or related cloud certifications.
Big Data Technologies:
- Experience with tools such as Apache Spark, Kafka, or other big data frameworks.
Business Intelligence Tools:
- Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for data visualization.
