Job Description: Junior Bookkeeper (Minimum 3 Years Experience)
salary starting R12K - 15k gross pm
The Junior Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in the financial operations of our retail and manufacturing business. With a minimum of 3 years of experience, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the overall financial health of the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Financial Record Keeping:
- Accurately record financial transactions,
including sales, purchases, expenses, and payroll.
- Prepare and maintain general ledgers, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
- Payroll Processing:
- Process payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide financial information to management for decision-making.
- Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, including VAT, income tax, and payroll taxes.
- Prepare and file tax returns as required.
- Data Entry and Management:
- Accurately enter financial data into the accounting system (Pastel).
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
- Internal Controls:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Manufacturing Costing:
- Calculate and analyze manufacturing costs, including direct materials, direct labor, and overhead expenses.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with the director and other team members to provide financial support and advice.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Pastel/Partner/Evolution and the manufacturing module.(non-negotiable)
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- High Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
