An exciting opportunity has become available within the renewable energy industry, for a Legal Advisor. The position is based in Bellville, Cape Town.
- Provide legal support for the negotiation and closing of large infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on project development, construction, and commercial contracts.
- Draft, review, and negotiate EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts, O&M; (Operations and Maintenance) agreements, and FIDIC-based construction contracts.
- Offer comprehensive legal assistance from the RFP (tender) process through to the funding and execution stages of projects.
- Advise on risk management strategies and ensure legal compliance throughout project lifecycles.
- Provide counsel on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Utilities Outsourcing Agreements, including structuring, drafting, negotiation, and execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, finance, engineers, and external counsel, to support project development and transactional execution.
- Drafting of board and shareholder resolutions, advising on mergers and acquisitions as well as group restructures.
- LLB or equivalent qualification.
- Admitted attorney with 5+ years post-articles experience, preferably from a reputable law firm.
- Extensive commercial experience with a focus on Project, Construction, and/or Infrastructure sectors is essential.
- Experience in and working knowledge of FIDIC construction contracts.
- Prior experience with energy projects, particularly renewable energy, is a significant advantage.
- Knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) is highly desirable.
