South African Sugar Association (SASA) has a permanent opportunity available for aFixed Asset Controller,based inMount Edgecombe, KwaZulu-Natal.
This role would be reporting directly to the Financial Accountant and would be based in the Finance and Administration Division
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintenance of the fixed asset registers for SASA and its subsidiaries including the processing of transactions and depreciation in accordance with SASA's accounting policies and the timely preparation and updating of fixed asset registers for the respective divisionsTo efficiently operate the accounting activities relating to Fixed Assets and SASA insurance portfolio in accordance with internal and external policies,
procedures and controlsTo ensure the safe custodianship of SASA assets by tracking and updating asset transfers and disposalsVerification of all fixed assets on an annual basisTo prepare and process all transactions relating to Fixed Assets and Insurance after ensuring that the correct authorisation has been obtainedPerform the function of client liaison for the SASA asset and motor vehicle insuranceTo review the insurance claims listing for outstanding asset and motor vehicle claims, follow up on all claims and assist with the annual insurance renewalAssistance with the tender of SASA assets for disposalTo provide assistance to the Finance Manager with Facilities Management, bulk printing and stock count related tasksTo assume responsibility of Health and safety for the division To provide assistance to the Financial Accountant and Finance Manager in relation to Fixed Assets, SASA insurance portfolio,
Facilities Management and other ad-hoc tasksTo communicate with the Financial Accountant and Finance Manager on any issues surrounding Fixed Assets, Insurance and Facilities Management
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience:
A three-year Diploma in Accounting and/or BCom DegreeMinimum two years working experience as an Accountant or Asset Controller, preferably in a centralised accounting department will be advantageousCode EB Driver's licenseGood working knowledge of Syspro Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Outlook Express)
Knowledge and Skills:
Have exceptional planning, organising, organizational and self-management skillsBe a team player and comfortable with written and verbal communicationHave a strong preference for working in an environment with established standards, guidelines,
policies and proceduresPay close attention to detail and are thorough and meticulous and take pride in the presentation of their deliverables
