The Royal Portfolio is seeking a strong Interior Designer (or Interior Architect) & Project Manager to work alongside our owners on renovations and new hotel projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interior design, project and construction management, leading teams to deliver a range of projects (often simultaneously) on budget and within the timeline. This role will play a key factor in overseeing the physical growth of The Royal Portfolio - ensuring that the company delivers on it's purpose, which is "To give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay" , with new offerings, for more guests, in more locations.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with owners and senior leadership to develop and execute interior design plans for hotel renovations and new hotel projects
- Create design concepts that meet project requirements, including space planning, colour schemes, lighting and furniture selection
- Collaborate with architects, vendors, contractors, builders and other stakeholders to ensure project timelines and budgets are met
- Manage project schedules, budgets and deliverables, ensuring all work is completed on time and within budget
- Check quotes, bills of quantities and confirm draw downs and payments to contractors
- Oversee the construction and installation of all interior design elements, ensuring quality and attention to detail
- Ensure compliance with all building codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and innovations in hospitality, interior design, architecture and construction
REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
- Tertiary qualification in Interior Design, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Interior/ Architectural Design and Project Management, with a focus on luxury hospitality projects
- Advanced drawing skills in Revit, with SketchUp, Photoshop, etc.
- Ability to prepare Council ready plans would be an advantage
- A track record of delivering projects by managing a team of multi skilled contractors
- Based at our head office in Claremont, Cape Town, the ability to travel to projects for extended periods of time is essential
- Must have a valid SA driver's license
It is important that the candidate is able to work as part of a team and is a good cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio.
South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
