Position Internal Audit Data Analyst
1st Line Report Internal Audit Executive Qualifications and Experience and requirements
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Finance, Accounting, Internal Audit or a related field.
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, internal auditing, or a similar role.
2+ years of experience in data analysis or related field
Experience with data analysis tools (e.g. SQL, Python, R, Excel)
Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly and concisely present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Familiarity with internal audit concepts, standards, and methodologies, risk management practices, and financial reporting regulations is highly desirable.
Certifications such as CIA, CISA are a plus
Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends and anomalies, and extract meaningful insights.
A proactive and self-driven approach to problem-solving, with a strong focus on delivering results.
Vehicle and valid drivers licence.
Up to date Passport.
The position will be office based in Sandton, Johannesburg
Duties and Responsibilities
Collect, clean,
and analyse large data sets from various sources to support internal audit objectives
Interpret data, identify trends and patterns, and create reports that provide insights to support potential areas of risk or non-compliance.
Develop dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders
Collaborate with internal audit team and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and identify areas for improvement
Provide support for data-driven audit planning, testing, and monitoring activities
Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
Maintain documentation on data sources, methodologies, and analytical techniques
Develop and implement data analytics procedures to support continuous monitoring and risk assessment activities.
Assist in the development and execution of the annual audit plan, including risk assessment, audit scope, and data-driven audit strategies.
Communicate data-driven insights, findings, and recommendations to management and stakeholders through clear and concise written and verbal reports.
Support internal auditors in the planning, execution, and reporting of audit engagements by providing data-driven insights and analysis.
Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and track progress in addressing identified weaknesses and deficiencies using data-driven techniques.
Stay current with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging trends in internal auditing, data analytics, and financial reporting.
Participate in special projects, investigations, and process improvement initiatives as required.
Perform ad-hoc tasks assigned by management.
