Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant to join our hospitality team. This role will be responsible for managing the financial accounts of our hotel, conference venues, spa, restaurants, and other facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Transaction Management: Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, including journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations,
and company policies.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits, tax filings, and other financial compliance requirements.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze financial performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities.
- Departmental Support: Provide financial support and guidance to other departments.
- Financial Planning: Participate in financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
- Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits to assess financial controls and identify areas for improvement.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.
Minimum Requirements:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Tertiary degree in finance
- SAIPA/SAICA accreditation
- Experience:
- Proven experience in financial accounting, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Integrity and ethical behavior in financial management.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with financial management in hotels, conference venues, spas, and restaurants.
- Familiarity with hospitality- also SAGE, preferably any of OPERA/SEMPER/PILOT/MICROS.
- Advanced certifications or additional training in hospitality finance.
