Group Tyre Controller

My client a leader in the Transportation and logistics sector is lookling to employ a Group Tyre Controller to manage the entire Group fleet. The position will be based in Pretoria. The ideal candidate will come from a logistics/transportation environment.

Maintaining tyre stock

Maintain tyre stock movement and keep records thereof.
• Check quality of incoming and outgoing tyre stock,
• Visual inspections, i.e. check sidewalls and measure depth
• Issue tyre stock:
➢ By using internal systems/reports - stock management.
➢ Issue tyre stock according to the tyre stock list.

Receive stock

- Conduct daily tyre surveys.
- • Ensure that tyre stock received is according to the order placed.






- • Check quantity of tyre stock received.
- • Check quality of tyre stock received.

Tyre surveys

- Ensure tyre spot checks are done on coaches.
- Manage and oversee that daily pressure checks are done and loaded on all relevant systems.
- Ensure thread depths are according to company policy and procedures.
- Ensure valve extensions and valve caps are done according to company policy and procedures.
- Manage and oversee that checks on wheel nuts and indicators are done daily.
- Ensure tyre rotations are done on services of coaches and details logged on system.

- Manage and oversee that rims are inspected for cracks and damages daily, and the relevant course of action is taken.

Tracking of tyres and rims

- Follow up on tyre change slips to ensure compliance when taking off/ replacing a tyre.
- Follow up on puncture repairs on route with drivers.
- Ensure that all spare wheels and trailer spare wheels are accounted for and c-numbers coincide.
- Ensure that all damaged rims are replaced daily with c-numbers provided.






- Complete daily checks on tyre audits and rotation on system country wide (All Fleet).
- Ensure that tyre scrap analyses and any claims are accounted for weekly.
- Ensure that tyre casings are analyzed weekly and that paper trails are in order.
- Create F2 tyres and check that the correct tyres are running on the correct axles.
- Follow up on test tyres (km fitted – rotations – pressures – wheel positions –km removed).
- Do a weekly inspection of tyre fitment equipment and safety equipment to ensure Tyre Fitters are able to carry out their duties.
- Ensure that Tyre Fitters wear correct clothing and safety wear.
- Manage the Tyre Fitters and all related Human Resource management in this regard.(Leave, hours, clock in, shifts, discipline,





training and housekeeping.)

Health and Safety

- Ensuring self and team complies to all H&S; rules and regulations as stipulated in the company's policies and procedures.
- Ensuring self and team are always wearing PPE and a mask.

Qualifications:

- Grade 12
- Valid Code 14 with PDP driver's license Experience:

Experience:

- 5 Years' experience working with tyres in a similar role/position
- Previous experience as a stock controller is beneficial

Knowledge / Abilities:

- Knowledge and understanding of health and Safety regulation/policy and procedures.
- Must be willing to assist in general administration duties
- Ability to work independently and within teams when needed
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to handle conflict,
