Drawings and design
Draught designs as per client/project scope for sign off.
Draught workshop drawings post design sign-off.
As-built drawings completed and filed post project completion.
Prepare and submit Bill of Quantities to Estimator before project start.
Project planning and estimation
Define project plan as per approved scope and design.
Distribute project plan to relevant stakeholder timeously.
Compile estimations for each project.
Obtain supplier material and equipment quotes for estimations.
Compile detailed materials lists and distribute to relevant stakeholders.
Identity skillsets required for each project and assign the appropriate resources accordingly.
Project monitoring
Oversee and monitor project progress and delivery.
Assess project progress against design, drawings, materials usage and budgeted costs.
Control project costs against budgeted costs.
Conduct site meetings and inspections.
Maintain job completion schedule for projects of specified value.
Monitor adherence to company policies.
Monitor and manage adherence to SHEQ, ISO and industry standards.
Provide weekly project reports highlighting progress, errors, repairs required and risks.
Provide commissioning reports by specified deadlines.
Compile project handover documents.
Oversee project handover and sign-off by client upon project completion.
Stakeholder management
Liaise with clients on a regular basis.
Inform relevant stakeholders of matters arising.
Lead and manage team
Overall effective and efficient management of the department.
Allocate tender submissions/project work, as required.
Coach and mentor direct reports.
Monitor performance and quality of work.
Conduct regular check-ins with direct reports.
Seek to build productive and effective working relationships with and within the team.
Compile performance contracts and PDPs for all direct reports.
Perform interim and final reviews.
Resolve all employee relations matters (disciplinaries and grievances) timeously.
Apply HR/IR company policies and practices.
Monitor and rectify team adherence to standards and procedures.
Identify skills gaps and training needs.
Identify interventions to address skills gaps and training needs.
Monitor overtime costs and analyse trends.
Business development and sales
Continuously liaise with existing clients for added revenue opportunities.
Contribute to the retention of existing clients.
Seek and secure new revenue opportunities.
Engage identified and/or qualified leads timeously.
Identify appropriate tender opportunities.
Compile high quality and accurate tender response and submit by deadline.
Provide an analysis of tender submissions – missed tenders/quotes and profitability of awarded tenders/quotes.
Operations and finance management
Monitor and manage profitability of all projects.
Maintain targeted cost to income ratio per project.
Meet financial targets set.
Provide monthly analysis of achievement against targets.
Administration and Compliance
Comply with and adhere to company policies, industry and ISO, SHEQ standards.
Upkeep and file all working papers, drawings, project documents and other records as per company policies.
Provide monthly reports.
Review and update the operating manual annually for relevance and upkeep.
Create quality assurance measurement instruments.
Review and update quality and safety standards annually.
